About Branaman Wedding Photography

Branaman Wedding Photography was established by James and Julie Branaman, husband and wife photojournalists based in Tampa Bay, Florida. Both hold degrees from the acclaimed photojournalism program at Western Kentucky University. Click HERE to view their editorial work. James also has a degree in art, but don't worry, he likes photos in focus and promises he won't get too "artsy" (unless you want him too).
James and Jules have over 20 years of experience between them and along with working on documentary projects around the world, they have photographed weddings in 10 states.

After college and internships at the Beacon News (Aurora, Ill.), The Chicago Tribune and the Seattle Times, James worked as a multimedia journalist for the Kitsap Sun in Bremerton, Washington.

In 2006 he followed a pretty girl (now his wife and the other half of Branaman Photography) to the Tampa Bay area of Florida. Along with working as a freelance photojournalist James also teaches photography classes and workshops.
His work has been published in The New York Times, LA Times and many other national publications. He is a regular contributor to The St. Petersburg Times and their upscale publication BAY Magazine. A 2011 solo exhibit at The Morean Arts Center focused on his conservation work and he will spend a month in 2012 as an Artist in Residence at Everglades National Park.

After graduating from the photojournalism program at Western Kentucky University Julie Busch Branaman moved to Seattle and was a freelance photojournalist in the Pacific Northwest. In 2006 she accepted a staff position working as a multimedia journalist for The Tampa Tribune/TBO.com and WFLA News Channel 8 and moved to the land of sun and shuffleboard, St. Petersburg, Florida. Shortly after moving to Florida Julie took to the rink living out her childhood dream, becoming a roller derby queen with the Tampa Bay Derby Darlins, but found the spotlight a bit too bright (and it was keeping her away from her duties as a doggy mom) and somehow retired with no broken bones. Some recent favorite assignments include photographing the rescue of over 700 cats for the Humane Society and having a baby elephant drool on her (it's a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it) at the Center for Elephant Conservation.
Julie is also the Managing Photographer for 83degreesmedia.com covering creative thinkers & innovation throughout the Tampa Bay region.

When James and Jules are not behind the viewfinder shooting weddings or editorial assignments, thesy can be found hiking, biking, snorkeling, scuba diving, kite flying, fishing and kayaking around Florida and beyond.
